A significant part of doing excellent community engagement involves better internal coordination and connection.

The following groups meet regularly to talk about and advise on UBC’s engagement with communities:

  • Community Engagement Network The CEN is intended for UBC staff who connect local and global communities with UBC through outreach and engagement. For more information contact: Kat Cureton.
  • NEW Slack Workspace for Community Engagement Network This virtual workspace is designed for UBC staff who do community engagement work to quickly and easily share resources, events, and problem solve in a virtual environment with colleagues. Popular channels include #community-partner-asks, #funding-opportunities, and #resource-and-events. Open to UBC staff and faculty members. Contact Kat Cureton.
  • Community Engaged Scholarship group A group of community engaged scholars from across campus who come together to talk about approaches to engaged learning and research, as well as institutional engagement. For more information contact Katie McCallum.
  • Asian Canadian Community Engagement committee The primary purpose of the ACCE Initiative is to provide the University community with a hub of subject matter experts, as a central resource to support UBC’s sustained and mutually enriching engagement with Asian Canadian communities. Learn more on the ACCE website.

If you are interested in connecting with an existing network or starting your own, either on or off-campus, please email us for support community.engagement@ubc.ca. Check the Community Engagement Events Calendar to learn about other public events.
