The following is a list of national and international conferences with a focus on community-university partnerships. This list is by no means comprehensive, and we invite you to let us know about any other conferences that we could include on the list.


Association of American Colleges and Universities (AACU): Annual Global Engagement Conference

AACU’s Network for Academic Renewal offers an annual series of working conferences, collaboratively designed and led by experienced practitioners and drawing from AACU’s member campuses and projects. AACU offers an annual conference on Global Engagement and Spaces of Practice that is most relevant to community engagement. Link to their site.


Anchor Institutions Task Force Annual Conference

The Anchor Institutions Task Force (AITF) is a growing network of over 700 leaders promoting the engagement of anchor institutions—including colleges, universities, hospitals, community foundations, libraries, arts institutions, and other anchors—in community and economic development. The AITF is designed to develop and disseminate knowledge and function as an advocacy and movement building organization to create and advance democratic, mutually beneficial anchor institution-community partnerships. Bringing Theory to Practice

This US-based organization organizes conferences to bring together educators of all types (faculty, student affairs professionals, staff mentors and advising professionals, teaching assistants, administrators, etc.) to focus on the importance of well-being in higher education. C2UExpo

A Canadian-led international conference designed to showcase best practices in community-campus partnerships, create space for collaboration and foster ideas, connections and frameworks with the purpose of strengthening our communities. Held every 2 years. Link to their site.


Campus Compact Conferences

Campus Compact is a US coalition focused on teaching, research, and institutional action in service of the public good. They host annual regional and national conferences across the US. Link to events listing. Link to their site.


Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities Annual Conference

The Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities Annual Conference is highly regarded as a vibrant platform to explore and share new ideas. The conference is focused on CUMU member institutions, their community partners, and their work addressing contemporary challenges through dialogue and presentations delivered in a variety of formats that allow for in-depth conversations and actionable next steps. Canadian Knowledge Mobilization Forum

The Forum is organized as an opportunity to share what you know and to push the current boundaries of what we do as KMb professionals. This event provides access to some of the best minds and most creative practitioners in the field. Link to their site.


Community-Campus Partnerships for Health (CCPH) Conference

During even-numbered years, CCPH organizes an international conference in the U.S., bringing together hundreds of people from across the globe to engage in substantive discussions, gain new knowledge and practical skills, think critically about their work and take action individually and collectively. Engagement Scholarship Consortium Conference

An annual conference based in the US drawing together a mix of state-public and private institutions. Their goal is to work collaboratively to build strong university-community partnerships anchored in the rigor of scholarship, and designed to help build community capacity. Link to their site.


International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IARSCLE)

The annual IARSLCE conference is a scholarly venue to disseminate new knowledge on service-learning and community engagement. The focus of presentations, symposia, and keynotes is on research incorporating a variety of theoretical methodologies and perspectives. The conference also serves as a gathering place for networking and association business meetings for members. A significant component of the conference is the mentoring of graduate students and new faculty members interested in advancing their own research agendas in this field. Link to their site.


National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE) Engage Conference

The UK-based NCCPE annual conference, held in Bristol each year, provides an opportunity for all those interested in HEI public engagement to come together, to be inspired, challenged and refreshed. The Engage Conference is designed to see conversations and ideas build year on year, and provide a thoughtful and interesting space to take collective thinking forward. Link to their site.


Living Knowledge Conferences

Living Knowledge Conferences are aimed at academics, practitioners, activists, social innovators, research funders, science educators and communicators, citizen scientists, policy makers, non-governmental organisations, artists, interested community groups and citizens. Talloires Network Leaders Conference

The Talloires Network is an international association of institutions committed to strengthening the civic roles and social responsibilities of higher education.
